The Chart Editor doesn't save the state Font Series Color of Marks when you change it in design time. To check it, you need only do next: 
Add a Series and select 'Series tab->Marks->Style' and turn on 'Font Series Color', then run the project. 
The problem isn't produced if you modify the property by code.
