The Bar series width is calculated considering all the points in the chart, not just the bar points. So having some bar series with a few points and a Line series with a lot of points, the bars width is calculated considering the line points and the bars will be very thin.
This doesn't happen in .NET because the following snipped isn't present.
In Series.pas,

        tmp:=Series[t].Count;
