There are two problems. First, if I mark the Use Series Border checkbox, I don't see the border in series color.
Second, If I click the Edit Border... button and change the color, nothing changes. 
To reproduce the problems see the example Demo All Features\Welcome !\Miscellaneous\Legend\Symbols Border.
