Please follow the steps below to reproduce the problem:
1. Adds 3 LineSeries.
2. Opens Chart Editor, goes to the Series -> General -> Legend tab and sets text "bbbbb" to Series2.
3. Then, select Series3 from the combobox in the Series tab and set an image to Series3.
Here, the image set to Seris3 color box is set to Series2.

Does it mean, after changing the legend text of Series2 in Step2, do I have to either close Chart Editor or move to another tab (ex. the Chart tab) to set an image to Series3 color box?

No, this is a problem we have reproduced here and we will try to fix it to upcoming maintenance releases of TeeChartVCL.
