Smoothed property creates a TSmoothingFunction internally.
This property doesn't support sources with XValues.DateTime = true

Adding this to Series.pas, in the procedure TCustomSeries.SmoothSeries the problem is solved:
        if not Assigned(Self.FunctionType) or FDirty then
//...
          if (Self is TLineSeries) then
            FSmoothSeries.XValues.DateTime := (Self as TLineSeries).XValues.DateTime
          else
            FSmoothSeries.XValues.DateTime := (Self as TAreaSeries).XValues.DateTime;
