With the following code, note the behaviour of the MinorTicks when the Axis is set to Logarithmic:

procedure TForm1.InitializeChart;
begin
   Chart1.View3D:=false;
   TLineSeries(Chart1.AddSeries(TLineSeries)).FillSampleValues(100);
   Chart1.Axes.Bottom.Logarithmic:=true;
end;

procedure TForm1.Button1Click(Sender: TObject);
begin
  Chart1.Axes.Bottom.Increment := 4;
  Chart1.Axes.Bottom.MinorTickCount := 5;
  Chart1.Axes.Bottom.MinorTickLength := 4;
  Chart1.Axes.Bottom.MinorTicks.Color := clRed;
  Chart1.Axes.Bottom.SetMinMax(2, 8);
end;

procedure TForm1.Button2Click(Sender: TObject);
begin
  Chart1.Axes.Bottom.Increment := 40;

Another example:
Create a chart with logarithmic x-axis from 1 to 10000.
Zoom into chart from e.g. 150 to 10000.
The chart displays the x axis minor ticks from 1000 to 10000, all minor ticks below 1000 get lost.
