In VCL there is a TTeeExcelSource component to support importing from xls choosing a range of cells for the values and labels.

In ActiveX, the only alternative we have to load data from an xls at runtime is by manually load the xls through an OleDbConnection and loop for the values as in the example at the forums:

It would be simpler for the customers if the TTeeExcelSource component was also present in ActiveX or if its methods and properties could be accessed from tChart1.Import....

I'm afraid it hasn't yet as you can see in the status of the ticket.
I'll increment the priority of the ticket.

Do you have a simple example showing us the allocating memory problem you got when trying to implement the suggested alternative of an OleDbConnection?
